With everyone settling into 2020 well and truly by now, it means that the annual Sydney Eisteddfod Kawai Piano Scholarship is not too far away. Entries are coming in quite impressively for Sydney Eisteddfod’s 2020 festival! If you haven’t had the chance yet to enter the prestigious piano scholarship event (proudly sponsored by Kawai), make sure you do so now before entries close March 13!

The Scholarship discovers and encourages promising young pianists ages 16-25 years. It attracts pianists across Australia with extraordinary music talent and a level of skill required for a professional career. In 2019, Leanne Yang Jin took out the crown for this Scholarship for her most magnificent performance at Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Leanne’s impressive performance saw her win the $10,000 Scholarship and $2,000 cash, with this First prize being on offer once again this year!

This year is a particularly special one for Kawai and Sydney Eisteddfod, with it marking a powerful partnership between us for 30 years running. During this time, we’ve witnessed thousands of young pianists rise to incredible heights, in both their personal and professional lives. Kawai is glad to be sponsoring Sydney Eisteddfod for yet another year, knowing that many of Australia’s well-known musicians have each gone through Sydney Eisteddfod at some stage before their greatest performance successes took shape.

Both Kawai and Sydney Eisteddfod are committed to promoting musical excellence, and both wish to provide endless possibilities for those who dare to dream and work with fierce passion. Both are committed to building bridges between like-minded people and communities, engaging young people with a love of the performing arts that will last a lifetime, and providing them with the means to focus and develop their talents into profound personal accomplishments of artistic expression. Kawai is proud to be a part the musical story in which Sydney Eisteddfod has continued to tell for 87 years now, in the city we love.

In 30 years, we have created such a powerful partnership based around our mutual love and passion for music and all the wonderful things it brings. We only look forward to growing together into the future for plenty more years to come. We look forward to working together for our 30th year when the Festival begins in May and cannot wait for another year of showstopping performances and incredible talent
